On Sunday shortly before 9:10 p.m. Roanoke Police responded to the 400 block of 14th Street NW to investigate a report of a gunshot wound. Officers found 33-year-old Robert Eugene Thompson lying near the street between two vehicles. He suffered an apparent gunshot wound to the back of his lower head and neck area. He was taken to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital for treatment. At last word, no arrests have been made. Anyone with information is asked to call the Roanoke Valley Crime Line at 540-344-8500.
