At approximately 12:45 p.m. yesterday afternoon, Virginia State Police and law enforcement partners took Rayjaun A. Calloway, 24, into custody. He was located in the area of Route 460 and Sulpher Spring Road in Prince Edward County. Calloway was taken into custody without incident. Calloway is the suspect in the murder of Israel Calloway, 55, yesterday (June 28, 2025), in the City of Roanoke. Yesterday, at approximately 7:20 a.m., Calloway was spotted by a Farmville Police Officer in the area of Hixburg Road and Route 460. Calloway shot at the officer. The officer was not injured. Prince Edward County issued a shelter in place in response.
