NOTE: Roanoke Police have taken a man into custody after a standoff this morning.
ROANOKE, Va. — Officers are on the scene of a barricade situation in the 100 block of Clover Street NE, according to the Roanoke Police Department. The incident began with a call for service at approximately 7:49 a.m. Monday, reporting a possible shooting.
Upon arrival, officers found a woman outside the residence with non-life-threatening injuries resulting from an assault. Police say there is no evidence of a shooting at this time. However, reports of a weapon being involved and a suspect inside the home prompted authorities to establish a large perimeter around the area.
Road closures are currently in place at Williamson Road and Clover Avenue, Noble Avenue and Courtland Road, Courtland Road and Liberty Road, and Clover Avenue and Lukens Street NE. Police are asking the public to avoid the area.
For safety, media outlets are being asked to stage at the old Sheetz parking lot at Orange Avenue and Williamson Road.
