A big change at the top for Carilion Clinic. CEO Ed Murphy is leaving to take a job in New York. Current Chief Operating Officer Nancy Howell Agee will become the new CEO July 1st. As News/Talk 960’s Evan Jones reports, Agee already has some clear goals in mind.

She takes over just as federal health care overhaul presents big future unknown for all providers. She says one her biggest goals is to provide better quality and higher efficiency medical care throughout the Carilion system regardless of any decisions that come from Washington.
Murphy will join the TowerBrook Capital Partners L.P. investment firm and become Chairman of the Board of Sound Physicians. Murphy joined Carilion in 1998 as Chief Operating Officer, becoming President and CEO in 2001. Carilion says his chief accomplishments include leading the organization from a hospital-based system to a “multi-specialty clinic” and helping create the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine.
