After more than a year of planning and construction a kayak and canoe launch along the Roanoke River near the Virginia Tech-Carilion campus on South Jefferson Street opened with a ribbon cutting today. Aaron Ewert from The Bridges development next door helped raise money for the launch site. He is already planning on another kayak and canoe launch site about a mile away where the Roanoke River intersects 13th Street.
