The Roanoke County Police Department says that local, state and federal authorities are in the process of serving search warrants and arrest warrants across the Roanoke Valley. They are connected to a long-term heroin trafficking investigation. There is no further information at this time. The county police department says another news release will be issued at a later date by the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

HIDTA Agencies Serving Multiple Warrants Across the Area
September 24, 2014—The Roanoke High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) group, which consists of officers from the City of Roanoke, Roanoke County, City of Salem, Town of Vinton, Virginia State Police, and the DEA Roanoke Resident Office is in the process of serving several search warrants across the Roanoke Valley in relation to a long term heroin trafficking investigation.
Officers from various state, local, and federal agencies are being utilized to serve the search warrants and arrest warrants. Further information regarding the investigation will be released at a later time by the United States Attorney’s Office. The timing of the next release has not yet been determined and will be dependent upon the progress of the enforcement operation.
