From Roanoke Fire-EMS: On Friday, May 6, 2016, Roanoke Fire-EMS responded to a house fire in the 500 block of Bullitt Ave., SE. The call was received in the E-911 Center at approximately 3:53am and was under control by 4:51 am. 32 personnel responded to the scene. When crews arrived they found a two story house fully involved in flames with two houses on each side of the home exposed. Three occupants that were in the house when the fire started were able to escape without injuries. They were alerted to the fire by their faithful dog, Elvis, who unfortunately died in the fire. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. The American Red Cross is assisting 2 of the occupants. 1 of the occupants will be staying with family. Damage estimates are approximately $60,000.
