He lost a close election for Roanoke Mayor in 2012 to incumbent David Bowers – now small business owner Mark Lucas has announced an independent bid for City Council. The co-owner of Lucas Therapies says economic development will be the cornerstone of his campaign before the May 3rd election. Lucas ran as a Republican for Mayor in 2012 but will run as an independent candidate this May for one of three Roanoke City Council seats up for grabs.
