State health officials report 40 new COVID-19 cases for the Roanoke Valley in the latest 24-hour reporting period. Almost half of them — 19 — are in Roanoke City. There are two new hospitalizations reported and no new COVID-related deaths in Roanoke, Salem and Roanoke and Botetourt Counties.
