Roanoke Fire-EMS responded to a fire Saturday around 11:40pm in the 300 block of Walnut Avenue Southeast. When crews arrived on the scene they found three people with burn injuries. Two of them were critically burned and transported to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. One of the individuals, an adult male, died at the hospital. His name has not been released. An additional burn victim left the scene but was located by Roanoke Police. Fire investigators determined the three built the fire in the abandoned building in an attempt to stay warm.
