Kroger now has the necessary approvals to go ahead with plans that, from all indications, will bring on-line grocery shopping to the Roanoke Valley. Botetourt County’s Board of Zoning Appeals has approved three variances to permit additions to Kroger’s Daleville store. WFIR’s Evan Jones has the story.

Kroger won’t confirm it, but a zoning request in Botetourt County strongly suggests the grocery chain wants to bring its on-line shopping service to the Roanoke Valley. The service lets you order from home, then pick it up at the store. More from WFIR’s Evan Jones.
Kroger statement; “ Kroger is currently testing its online ordering and pickup initiative in a number of stores, but none in Virginia. It is forthcoming in Mid-Atlantic. ”
Norfolk Southern says the move of Roanoke-based corporate offices resulted in about 150 workers choosing to leave the company stay in the region rather than move to Norfolk or Atlanta. The updated numbers came in a conference call yesterday with investors. WFIR’s Evan Jones has the story.
