The Virginia Recreational Facilities Authority signed a 99-year, 1 dollar per year lease with Roanoke County in October, to oversee and develop a master plan for the 1100-acre park. Now Debbie Pitts, the executive director for Explore Park who also managed it before she retired previously from Roanoke County, says she will retire – again – at year’s end.
