Tim Cywinski, a Roanoke College alum and communications director for the Virginia Sierra Club, has announced his candidacy for the Democratic nomination in the Commonwealth’s 1st District to face off against Republican incumbent Rob Wittman. In his announcement video, Cywinski says he is running for congress to ensure that every American has a chance at a better life.
Former Roanoke City meteorologist Sean Sublette is also trying to secure the Democratic nomination to challenge Congressman Wittman during next year’s midterms.
