(Updated 1/5 3pm) State Police is investigating a fatal crash which occurred at 5:09 a.m. this morning on Route 220, near Aviator Dr. The crash involved a tractor trailer, which was illegally parked on the right shoulder of Route 220, when it was struck in the rear by a Jeep SUV. The SUV and the trailer caught fire after the collision, causing both to completely burn. The roadway was closed for an extended period of time due to the cleanup. The roadway is now open. The driver of the SUV died in the crash. It is unknown if the driver of the SUV was wearing his seatbelt. The remains have been sent to the Office of the Medical Examiner, Western District for identification. The driver of the tractor trailer was not injured. The crash remains under investigation.
