LEXINGTON, Va. (AP) _ The cost of attending VMI is rising by 5.5 percent. The board of visitors of Virginia Military Institute approved tuition and fee increases over the weekend. The total cost for in-state cadets will increase next academic year to $25,202. That includes tuition, fees and room and board. For out-of-state cadets, the total cost will increase to $48,216. That’s a 4.9 percent increase. The increases are effective for the academic year beginning in August. VMI has an enrollment of approximately 1,700 cadets. It is the nation’s oldest state-supported military college.
