Roanoke County Police PatchRoanoke County Police have determined through an internal investigation that officers took appropriate action when arresting Alvin Murdock, 34, in late August at the Wendy’s near Tanglewood Mall. The advocacy groups Justice For Kionte, Black Lives Matter, Southern Christian Leadership Conference, and Raise Up $15 previously criticized the arrest. The groups previously held a press conference alleging that cell phone footage revealed the officers used excessive force during the arrest. Officials say the force was necessary to restrain Murdock after he ran away during field sobriety tests. A Roanoke County Police spokeswoman says all actions were within policy and no disciplinary actions were taken.
