Ahead of Super Bowl Sunday, another physical sport is kicking off its season locally with a bout at the Berglund Center. The Twin Valleys Roller Derby team name came about after the New River Valley and Roanoke teams merged. Roller derby is a physical sport, but Board Member Cathy Cockrell says they didn’t target Super Bowl weekend:
The “Twin Valleys” kick off its season on Saturday against “River City” at the Berglund Special Events Center at 6 pm. A link for tickets to this weekend’s roller derby bout can be found here.
