It’s the time of year when stink bugs are out, along with new products to get rid of them. A couple of Virginia Tech entomology students wondered about some home-made stink bug traps they saw on You Tube. Doctoral student student John Aigner says they enlisted “citizen scientists” to test the traps in their homes. He says the tests found that a homemade trap using a disposable roasting pan, a desk lamp and some dishsoap worked much better than commercial stink bug traps that cost up to $50. Aigner has posted a brief video showing how to make the trap.
