Friday night’s wind storm that left tens of thousands of Roanoke Valley residents in the dark also knocked out a number of traffic signals. Police say if an officer is not directing traffic that such an intersection, it becomes a four-way stop. Motorists must come to a complete stop before proceeding.
Meanwhile, city police report crime in Roanoke has been on the rise since Friday, although it’s not known whether all of the cases are because the power outages. WFIR’s Timothy Martin has that story:
