The occasion today was the ceremonial ribbon-cutting for Uptown Joe’s, the donut, cafe and lunch-to-go spot on the ground floor. City Manager Chris Morrill says it’s a good example of the city’s goals for downtown: a small business that is part of The Patrick Henry’s renaissance, and by extension, downtown Roanoke’s. Next up at The Patrick Henry: 1st and 6th Restaurant and the hotel’s lobby bar. Developer Ed Walker says all that should open up next month.
