RICHMOND, Va. (AP) – Authorities in Virginia say a hit-and-run suspect who got out of his car naked on an interstate highway was hospitalized in critical condition after he was shot and wounded by a police officer. Richmond police spokesman Gene Lepley tells local news media it happened Monday afternoon after an officer witnessed a hit-and-run accident. The officer pursued the suspect onto I-95, where the car hit two more vehicles and went off the road. The driver exited, naked, and ran onto the interstate. Lepley says the man approached the officer, who fired a stun gun. When that didn’t stop the man, the officer fired his gun and wounded the man. The identities of the suspect and officer were not immediately released. The officer was put on leave while the incident is investigated.
