Appalachian Power reports more than 1,000 Virginia customers were without power Christmas morning, most or all of the outages the result of strong winds that moved through overnight. Close to half that number were in Grayson County, but other numbers included 140 customers out in Franklin County and more than 60 in both Amherst County and Roanoke City.
