(AP) – Attorneys have made their final pitches in the $7.5 million defamation trial against Rolling Stone magazine over its discredited story about a brutal gang rape at the University of Virginia.University administrator Nicole Eramo claims the article about the alleged sexual assault of a woman identified only as “Jackie” portrayed her as its “chief villain.” Police found no evidence to back up Jackie’s claims.Attorneys presented their closing arguments in the case yesterday. Jurors are expected to begin deliberating today.An attorney for Eramo argued that article author Sabrina Rubin Erdely was an agenda-driven reporter with little regard for facts. But an attorney for Rolling Stone said there is no evidence Rolling Stone knew what it was publishing about Eramo was false or harbored reasonable doubts about whether it was true.
