Lessons were learned at the Democratic firehouse primary on February 13th when a record turnout at the Berglund Center had some leaving without casting a vote for Roanoke mayor and city council candidates. Stephen Niamke is the Democratic Party committee chair in Roanoke. The first-year chairman also doesn’t think Dave Trinkle will run as an independent for Mayor – Trinkle reportedly was upset that some of his constituents may have left without voting in a primary he lost by 134 votes to Sherman Lea.
