Smoking will cost Virginia smokers more than $3-point-6 million dollars over their lifetime, this is according to a recent study by WalletHub.com. As WFIR’s Denise Allen Membreno reports the numbers are based on a smoker who consumes one pack per day.
According to the American Lung Association tobacco use contributes to the death of nearly a half a million people every year and is the leading cause of lung cancer. Virginia ranks 27th in the U.S. for economic and societal costs of smoking spending more than $3-point-6 million dollars per smoker over their lifetime. WFIR’s Denise Allen Membreno has more.
