In the end it was no contest: incumbent Republican Congressman Bob Goodlatte won the 6th district primary handily tonight by a margin of 78 to 22 percent in the sprawling 6th district over challenger Harry Griego – who suffered from lack of name recognition and a lack of campaign funds. At Hotel Roanoke tonight Goodlatte thanked his supporters early – and saluted his constituents. The 12-term Congressman – who will face a Democratic challenger in November – says he took the Griego primary challenge seriously – hitting the campaign trail and spending money on advertising. Harry Griego did not respond when asked for a comment on his losing bid for office.
