Carilion Clinic broke ground today on the new, 7-story, 257,000 square foot Carilion Taubman Cancer Center, which it hopes to have open by 2027. It would replace and upgrade a 41-year-old cancer treatment facility on South Jefferson Street.
Carilion has raised $74 million towards the $100 million for the new cancer center on the Virginia Tech-Carilion Riverside campus. It will be named for Nicholas and Jenny Taubman, who contributed 25 million towards the project. Carilion CEO Emeritus Nancy Howell Agee:
