Ridership numbers at the Roanoke Amtrak station since daily passenger service returned on October 31 are strong. An Amtrak spokesperson says between October 31 and November 30, 2770 passengers boarded at the Roanoke platform for their trip to Lynchburg and the northeast corridor beyond that extends to Boston. This is the fourth expansion of Amtrak service in the Commonwealth since 2009.
