Yesterday’s accident on Interstate 81 was the latest of many over the years just north of Buchanan in the Arcadia area, but VDOT says it has no funds to even consider significant changes along that stretch. VDOT has made pavement improvements and installed warning devices on a nearby curve that has proven especially accident-prone, but there is no money available to study or start more substantial improvements.
