We told you earlier this week about the Roanoke ophthalmologist who must retire early because of Parkinson’s disease. Now we have learned that Dr. Carey Robinson has been able to continue his practice to this point thanks in part to a medical procedure and speech therapy. More from WFIR’s Evan Jones.

Anheuser-Busch is purchasing Devils Backbone Brewing Company, the fast-growing craft brewer based in Nelson County. Devils Backbone is best known for its Vienna Lager, and officials there say they will retain a high level of autonomy. It is the latest of several such craft brewer purchases for Anheuser–Busch.

One of Roanoke’s busiest intersections will see significant disruptions all weekend as crews replace an old water main. The goal is reduce future traffic disruptions along Orange Avenue, but from Friday night through Sunday, the work will require lane closures and detours at Orange and Williamson Road. WFIR’s Evan Jones has more.
