The Lea Outdoor Youth Basketball League is adding a second location in June. It debuted last summer at Melrose Park as a way to give local kids a place to play organized basketball and to hear a “quality moment” about life skills Roanoke City Councilman Sherman Lea Sr. says the league will now hold games over a five-week period in Fallon Park as well. The Youth Basketball League was created in part to draw young people closer to the Roanoke City police department. Officers volunteer as team coaches and referees and . Registration opens on April 23rd at both Fallon and Melrose parks.
