RICHMOND, Va. (AP) _ Virginia’s farm and forestry exports reached a record $3.35 billion in 2014, increasing by more than 14 percent from the previous year. Gov. Terry McAuliffe released the export numbers Monday to start the two-day annual Governor’s Conference on Agricultural Trade in Richmond. It was the fourth straight year Virginia has set a record for exports. The top destination for Virginia farm and forestry products was China, which imported more than $691, followed by Canada at $279 million and Switzerland at $174 million. The top export products were soybeans and soybean products; lumber and logs; pork; leaf tobacco; poultry; and processed foods and beverages, including wine. McAuliffe has said he wants to make Virginia the East Coast capital for agricultural and forestry products.
