They’re leaving the light on for you. More than a dozen neighborhoods in Roanoke are taking part in this year’s “National Night Out Against Crime” event Tuesday night. Bob Clement, Roanoke’s Neighborhood Services Coordinator, says the idea is to “tell the bad guys that we’re standing up for our neighborhoods.”
“National Night Out” events include everything from just leaving the porch lights on to getting together for fish fries, watermelon feasts and block parties. The national sponsor, Target, is sponsoring a community celebration Tuesday from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. in the Target parking lot at Valley View.
