Roanoke Police are looking for a man they say shot a woman several times early Sunday morning. Police say 38-year-old Joseph Via should be considered armed and dangerous. He was last seen in a black Ford Explorer with Virginia license plate XDB-9570. Police want him in connection with shooting of a woman outside a home on the 5600 block of Green Ridge Road.

On May 6, 2012, at approximately 2:20am, Roanoke Police responded to the 5600 block of Green Ridge Road in reference to an aggravated assault.  When officers arrived, they found a female laying outside of a residence still conscious with multiple gunshot wounds.  She was transported to the hospital for treatment of her injuries.  Roanoke Police have obtained a malicious wounding warrant for Joseph Via, 38yoa of Roanoke, in reference to this incident.  Roanoke Police conducted an extensive search for Joseph Via, but he was not located at the time.  Police still continue to search for Via to locate and arrest him.  He is described as a black male, 5’06” tall, 170lbs.  He was last seen leaving the area in a black Ford Explorer with Virginia tag XDB-9570.  Joseph Via should be considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information regarding the location of Joseph Via should dial 911 immediately and not attempt to approach Via.
