The Roanoke County Police Department and the Roanoke County Sheriff’s Office say they are again receiving numerous complaints in reference to the jury duty scam. What happens is, a person claiming to be a Roanoke County Sheriff’s Deputy calls you to tell you you’ve missed jury duty and there’s now a warrant out for your arrest. The person will then say if you want to avoid going to jail you need to buy a Green Dot card and give them the number off of the card. Investigators want to remind you that law enforcement would not solicit any type of payment.
