ROANOKE, Va. (AP) Appalachian Power is seeking to increase the assessment it charges Virginia customers to recover higher costs of coal and other fuel. The company asked the State Corporation Commission on Tuesday to approve its request to increase the fuel factor it charges in Virginia.
If the request is approved, residential rates would increase from 10.5 cents per kilowatthour to 11.26 cents. Appalachian Power says it doesn’t expect any other rate changes this year. The company has 1 million customers in Virginia, West Virginia and Tennessee.
