Traffic-ReportCove Road between Hershberger and Routt Road will be closed until further notice due to a water main break along the 3000 block of Cove Road. The Western Virginia Water Authority is working to fix the problem. A detour has been established on Cove Road via Routt Road and Fairhope Road.

Roanoke-CollegeFrom Roanoke College: Republican Presidential nominee Donald Trump has cut more than half of Democrat Hillary Clinton’s lead in a month, but still trails by seven percent among likely voters in Virginia (44%-37%), according to The Roanoke College Poll. Libertarian Gary Johnson remained steady with eight percent of likely voters, and Green Party candidate Jill Stein dropped to 1 percent, while 9 percent remain undecided. In a two-way match-up, Clinton’s lead extends to 11 points (51%-40%). Clinton led by 16 in the August Roanoke College Poll (48%-32%).

The Roanoke College Poll interviewed 841 likely voters in Virginia between September 11 and September 20 and has a margin of error of +3.4 percent. With the percentage of undecided voters remaining steady, Clinton’s vote share declined by 4 percent since August while Trump’s share increased by 5 percent.

State-Police-1Here’s the press release from Virginia State Police: BEDFORD CO., Va. – Virginia State Police are investigating a two vehicle fatal crash which occurred on Stewartsville Road, just east of Good View Road.  The crash occurred at 6:04 am in Bedford County. A 1996 Ford Explorer was traveling west on Stewartville Road when it ran off the roadway on the right side, over corrected, came back into the roadway crossing the center line and struck a Ford pick-up truck head-on. The driver of the Ford Explorer was Shayna Darlene Alls, 21, of Moneta, Va.  Ms. Alls was wearing her seatbelt and died at the scene.  Also in the vehicle was a 2-year-old female juvenile who was in a child safety seat, she also died at the scene. The driver of the Ford pick-up was Kevin J. Corwin, 59, of Roanoke, Va.  Mr. Corwin was wearing his seatbelt and was not injured. The crash remains under investigation.
