Press release from Roanoke Fire & EMS: “At 12:29AM, crews were dispatched by the E-911 Center to reports of an apartment building on fire in the 800 block of Westside Blvd NW. Due to the nature of the original call, the incident was upgraded to a working fire and later a 2 Alarm response by Battalion 2 on A-Shift, ensuring sufficient personnel and apparatus were on scene. Our team on Engine 4 A-Shift arrived and reported an apartment complex fully involved in flames. Firefighters quickly went to work extinguishing the flames and searching each apartment for possible victims. At 1:00AM, the fire was marked under control. 2 patients were transported to the hospital with non life threatening injuries, an additional patient was transported in critical condition. Six people have been displaced and are receiving assistance from the Red Cross. The fire is under investigation by the Fire Marshal’s Office at this time.
