June 19th is the day to mark on your calendar for this years River Fest with an old favorite that used to be part of Festival in the Park from years back. Being recognized as ambassadors to the city of Roanoke one company is continuing to keep the food and culture alive with both tourists and locals as well. President of Tour Roanoke Larry Landolt is seeing a shift in the type of visitor that is coming to city as things start to open up post pandemic. WFIR’S Rob Ruthenberg has more.

A theatre that specializes in teaching younger children from ages 3 to 12 is now open. The PB& J Theatre Company is a for-profit organization designed to bring acting classes and small scale productions to the historic Grandin Village currently located inside The Roanoke Ballet Theatre .. Sunday is NATIONAL CANCER SURVIVORS DAY. Each year – 1.8 million people are diagnosed with cancer in the United States. Upon learning this difficult news, individuals also have a minefield of complex information to navigate regarding treatment plans – insurance coverage – clinical trials, and more. “Your Cancer Road Map” is a guide to help those when they get a diagnosis on what options are available from the executive chair of the Cancer Support Community.  WFIR’s Rob Ruthenberg has this report.
