The Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs are in a must-win situation tonight in game 2 of their SPHL semifinal after the Birmingham Bulls beat them at the Berglund Center 4-3 last night.

Josh Woodrum was in the middle of a Salt Lake Stallions team meeting before game 9 of a 10 game season they were told the A-A-F was suspending operations. But no regrets for the former Cave Spring and Liberty quarterback. And they beat Peoria in the SPHL Challenge Round series – now its on to the semifinals for the Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs:

Keep on grinding – that’s what Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs head coach Dan Bremner is telling his players after they beat Peoria in the SPHL Challenge Round series. Now its on to the semifinals with a home game against Birmingham tomorrow night.  Birmingham is the highest remaining seed after top-ranked Peoria was knocked out by Roanoke. Game time tomorrow at the Berglund Center is 7:05.  The Dawgs were 3-2-2 against the Bulls this season. So can they run the table and win a league title?

The Roanoke Valley Broadband Authority has been recognized nationally as the “Local Project of the Year.” That happened last week at The Broadband Communities Conference in Austin, Texas. The Coalition for Local Internet Choice cited the Roanoke Valley Broadband Authority for a “state of the art open-access fiber system,” that has also been “a driver for regional economic development.” There is a 95 mile fiber optic network in place to date.
