Roanoke-CityPatience … that’s what Roanoke City Transportation Manager Mark Jamison was asking for on a cold, windy residential street earlier today … streets have been plowed says Jamison but the extreme cold is leaving some stubborn snowpack behind. With temperatures not forecasted to get above freezing for the next few days – and wind chiil making it worse – Jamison says those slick spots may be there for a while. WFIR’s Gene Marrano spoke with Jamison:

Rescue-MissionThe Roanoke Rescue Mission is discussing terms of a merger with Manna Ministries of Vinton – which also distributes food and clothing to those in need… Rescue Mission executive director Joy Sylvester-Johnson says serving the Manna Ministries clientele is a good fit. Sylvester-Johnson also says Manna Ministries was planning to shut down … she’s not sure if those services will move to the Rescue Mission on 4th Street Southeast or remain at the current Vinton location.  WFIR’s Gene Marrano spoke with Sylvester-Johnson – who does not consider this an expansion of services at the Rescue Mission:
