Kim CookFrom the Virginia Lottery: Kim Cook was packed and all set to leave on vacation. She stopped by the grocery store for some snacks to take along on the drive. While she was there, she bought an Extreme 13 Scratcher ticket from the Virginia Lottery. When she scratched it, she initially thought she’d won $30. But when she showed the ticket to a clerk, she discovered the ticket was worth a lot more. “Girl, you won $130,000!” the clerk said. “Put the ticket in your purse and drive straight to the Lottery office.”  The clerk was right. Ms. Cook had just become the game’s first top prize winner. She bought the winning ticket at Food Lion, 4387 Starkey Road in Roanoke.  Extreme 13 is one of dozens of Scratcher games available from the Virginia Lottery. It features prizes ranging from $5 up to $130,000. Since this is the first top prize claimed in the game, four $130,000 prizes remain unclaimed.  Ms. Cook, who is a real estate agent, said she has no immediate plans for her winnings.
