Just about all the books and other items are now at the new Roanoke County Library building near Penn Forest Elementary School. Almost 117,000 books and other items now must be put in the proper place for the opening of the library building January 3rd. More from WFIR’s Bob Clark.

In your last-minute rushing around to do your holiday shopping, the Better Business Bureau has some advice. The BBB urges you to make sure you get a receipt for a gift you are buying — and be sure to enclose it with the present. Also ask about the return policy of the store. More from WFIR’s Bob Clark.

A charity in the Southwest Virginia receives a sweet gift. Students at Fishburn Park Elementary School have chosen Ronald McDonald House Charities as the winner of 2,500 Chocolate Chip Cookies donated by Hotel Roanoke.  More on the story from WFIR’s Bob Clark.

A program that will provide free cell phones and minutes for soldiers continues through January.  The Military Officers Association is asking that used cell phones be donated for our troops on duty overseas. A one-day holiday tour is set for this Saturday in the Fincastle area. Eight homes will be open; tickets for the home tour are $15 and will be available at the Fincastle Baptist Church. The home tour is sponsored by Historic Fincastle. WFIR’s Bob Clark has more.
