The Pepsi plant in northeast Roanoke County will stop production effective immediately. A news release from Pepsi says around 30 jobs at the Hollins plant will be affected. Most of the 150 employees will remain in warehousing and sales positions. Production will be moved to other Pepsi facilities.

RICHMOND – The Virginia Department of Corrections announced today that the drug Midazolam will be added to its list of lethal injection drugs approved for use in conducting state executions. This chemical will serve as an alternative first drug in Virginia’s three-drug protocol.

Virginia WesternRoanoke area high school seniors have just over one week left to apply for Community College Access Program, or CCAP, at Virginia Western Community College. The program provides two years of tuition-free education to qualified students. It is open to students in Roanoke City, Salem City, Roanoke County, Botetourt County, Craig County and Franklin County public schools.

Virginia High School League state wrestling championships come to the Salem Civic Center Friday and Saturday, bringing lots of people and money to the Roanoke Valley. Velvet Hall has more information:

The box office opens at 9 a.m., doors open at 10 a.m. and wrestling starts at 11:00 a.m. The price is $10 per session or $25 for a weekend pass (includes all four sessions).
