Roanoke City Council considers substantial pay hikes today — for themselves

Roanoke-CityRoanoke City Council is set to adopt a budget today for the 12 months that begin July 1st — and consider substantial increases to their own future pay. As proposed last week, council members’ pay would jump more than 28% a year to $20,000, and the mayor’s pay would increase 15% to $23,000. But as WFIR’s Evan Jones reports, council members are sharply divided on the proposal.
