Four Salem home burglary suspects now in custody

UPDATED: Salem Police say all suspects are now in custody.

Salem Police say they stopped a residential burglary in progress, arresting two people inside, but they are still looking for two more.  Police were called around 5:00 am yesterday to a home on McCauley Drive, not far from Longwood Park, where an occupant inside reported a burglary in progress. Officers say they captured 20-year-old Steven Perez of Floyd County and a 16-year-old female, but two others ran out. Police are looking for 19-year-old DeAnthony Jackson and 20-year-old Percy Johnson IV, both of Roanoke.

On June 16, 2013 at 5:12 am, officers from the Salem Police Department responded to a residence located in the 10 block of McCauley Drive in reference to a burglary in process.  Prior to their arrival officers were advised that the occupant of the residence was inside the residence and was communicating with 911 dispatchers.  Upon arrival to the residence officers made contact with an adult male suspect and a juvenile female suspect.  Two additional adult male suspects were inside the residence and fled through the rear of the residence on foot when confronted by police and were not apprehended after a subsequent search.  A firearm not belonging to the occupant of the residence was recovered by police at the scene. The occupant of the residence was not injured and no property was taken.

Steven Wilson Perez, 20, of Floyd County was charged with Statutory Burglary, Possession of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony, Felony Property Damage, and Conspiracy to Commit Burglary.   He is current being held without bond the Roanoke County/Salem Jail.

A female juvenile, 16, of Roanoke was charged with Statutory Burglary, and Conspiracy to Commit Burglary.  The juvenile is currently being held in the Roanoke Valley Detention Center.

Two additional suspects who fled the scene have been identified as DeAnthony Marquis Jackson, 19, of Roanoke and Percy (NMN) Johnson IV, 2o, also of Roanoke. Both Jackson and Johnson are wanted on one count each of Breaking and Entering while Armed with a Firearm.  Anyone with information regarding the location of these two individuals is asked to contact their local law enforcement agency, Roanoke Valley Crime Line at 344-8500, of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force — Roanoke at 857-2230.  The investigation into this matter is ongoing.
