Roanoke police: possible child abduction in SW city

Roanoke-PoliceFrom Roanoke City Police: On September 30, 2014 at approximately 5pm the Roanoke Police responded to the 500 block of 14th Street SW concerning a report of a possible attempted abduction.  The victim, a 7 year old female, reported to family members that while she was standing on the front porch of the residence she was approached by a white male who grabbed her.  The child screamed and this prompted the male to release the child and leave the area.  The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 6 feet tall with close cut, dark hair.  Officers checked the area immediately following this event for any suspects who may match the above description however no one was located. The investigation is on-going and detectives have followed up on several reports of suspicious activities and vehicles in the SW area of Roanoke; however no one has been linked to the original call or suspect description. The police department asks that if you have information please call 911.
