The shooting in Dallas of 12 police officers and two civilans has police departments across the county on high alert. The shootings appear to be retribution from the recent police involved shootings in Louisiana and Minesota. WFIR’s Denise Allen Membreno has local reaction.
The president of Roanoke’s NAACP chapter is inviting the entire community to a prayer vigil tomorrow for the 5 slain police officers and two African-American men shot to death earlier in the week. Brenda Hale condemns what happened in Dallas last night. Hale also claims the number of African-American men killed by law enforcement officers has risen in recent years. Tomorrow’s 4-pm prayer vigil is at the Martin Luther King Memorial on Henry Street.
Its founder refers to the annual event as a “Friend-raiser” instead of a fundraiser. Overnight Sensations is a celebration of live theater as WFIR’s Gene Marrano reports:
