It’s been a busy week at News-7. First it names Chris Hurst to succeed Keith Humphry as co-anchor, and now it names the next News Director, who starts in June. Dan Dennison replaces the recently-dismissed Amy Morris, now Executive Producer at WABC-TV in New York City. News/Talk 960’s Evan Jones has more.

Streets in Vinton and neighboring parts of Roanoke will be filled with walkers and runners this coming weekend in the first-ever “Mannathon”. More from News/Talk 960’s Evan Jones.

Another sign of changing times: Verizon is no longer required to deliver residential white pages telephone directories to its Virginia customers. You can still get one, but as News/Talk 960’s Evan Jones reports, only by request.

Gov. Bob McDonnell

Governor McDonnell says his job creation and economic development mission in Asia is going well. McDonnell spoke to reporters in a conference call from Shanghai, China, where he announced the opening of a Virginia trade office.  More on the governor trade mission from News/Talk 960’s Evan Jones.

State and federal agriculture departments are on the lookout for a new tree pest, and the purple triangular traps hanging from trees are hard to miss. They’re looking for the emerald ash borer, and as News/Talk 960’s Evan Jones reports, their eventual arrival seems unavoidable.
