Roanoke Police have released a surveillance photo of a woman suspected in at least one of two overnight robberies which appear very similar. The first was at Replay Games on Peters Creek Road, and several hours later, there was another at the Stop In Food Store at Edgewood and Brandon. Police say in both cases, a woman asked a clerk for change, and once the cash register was opened, the woman said she had a weapon and grabbed some money. Police say the surveillance photo was taken at the Stop In robbery.

Stop In Rob Sus, March 19, 2013

Roanoke, VA- The Roanoke Police Department is investigating two business robberies.  In the first incident, officers responded on March 18, 2013, at 8:40 p.m. to Replay Games located in the 2600 block of Peters Creek Road. Upon arrival they located an employee who stated that the suspect entered the store, presented money and asked for change.  The employee stated that when she opened the cash register the suspect indicated that she (the suspect) had a weapon.  The suspect then grabbed an undisclosed amount of money from the cash register and fled from the store.  No one was hurt.  No arrests have been made.  The suspect is described as a black female in her 40’s.  She was wearing a black leather jacket, blue jeans, black tennis shoes, and a black and white baseball cap.

In the second incident, officers responded at 2:38 a.m. to the Stop In Food Store  located in the 2900 block of Edgewood Street.  Upon arrival officers located  an  employee  who  stated  that  the suspect entered the business, presented money and asked for change.  The clerk stated that when he opened the  cash  register  the  suspect  indicated  that  she (the suspect) had a weapon.   The  suspect then grabbed an undisclosed amount of money from the cash  register  and then fled.   No one was hurt.  The suspect is described as  a  black  female between 25 and 35 years of age.  She was approximately five  feet eight inches in height weighing between 140 and 160 pounds.  She was  wearing a black or dark colored jacket, jeans, and a multicolored cap.

No weapon was displayed in either incident.  The Department is investigating whether the two incidents are related.  Anyone with information regarding this or other crimes should call the Roanoke Police Department at (540) 853-5959 or Crime Line at (540) 344-8500.  Crime Line may offer a monetary reward for any information leading to an arrest in a
